 What Goes Into Our Alpha-Gal Safe Peppermint Charcoal Soap

First, peppermint essential oil delivers a cool, crisp scent. Then activated charcoal adds a deep-cleansing boost. Together, they create a bar that feels fresh from the first lather. On top of that, our oil blend of soybean, palm, coconut, olive and sunflower oils builds a rich, creamy base. The charcoal also gives each bar its bold dark color with striking white swirls.

Every ingredient in this bar comes from plant-based sources. We use no beef tallow, no lanolin, and no mammalian-derived ingredients of any kind. So if you live with alpha-gal syndrome and you’re tired of reading labels, you can stop. We made this soap for you. We make every product with the AGS community in mind. You can trust what’s in the bar — and what isn’t.

 Cold Process, Small Batch

We handcraft each bar using the cold process method in our Camdenton, Missouri workshop. We never overheat the oils. That means the natural properties of every ingredient stay intact. After that, we cure each bar for at least four weeks. As a result, you get a harder, longer-lasting bar with rich lather from first use to last sliver. Because we handcraft every bar, each alpha-gal safe peppermint charcoal soap bar has its own unique swirl pattern.

What Is In This Bar

Ingredients: Sodium Soybeanate, Aqua (Water), Sodium Hydrogenated Palmate, Sodium Palmate, Sodium Cocoate, Sodium Olivate, Glycerin, Sodium Sunflowerseedate, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Sodium Chloride, Charcoal Powder.

Those names look technical because soap oils change as they cure. Lye turns each oil into its sodium salt, so olive oil becomes sodium olivate and coconut oil becomes sodium cocoate. That is also why lye itself is not on the list: none of it remains in a finished bar.

In plain terms: soybean, palm, coconut, olive and sunflower oils, water, real peppermint essential oil, a little salt, and activated charcoal for the color. The scent comes from the essential oil itself, not from a fragrance oil. Every ingredient is plant-derived or mineral. No beef tallow, no lard, no lanolin, no goat or other mammalian milk.

About the Glycerin

Glycerin is one of the hardest ingredients to pin down if you are avoiding mammalian products, because it can come from plants or from beef fat, and labels almost never say which.

Ours is not added at all. When plant oils and lye react, saponification produces glycerin on its own. Large commercial soap makers strip it out and sell it separately. We leave it in the bar. So the glycerin here came from the same soybean, palm, coconut, olive and sunflower oils listed above, because that is the only place it could have come from.
