We get a lot of great questions at our market booth and through email. Here are the ones we hear most often.
What does alpha-gal safe mean?
Alpha-gal syndrome is a food and product allergy triggered by a sugar molecule found in most mammals. People with alpha-gal syndrome can react to mammalian-derived ingredients in personal care products like beef tallow, lanolin, and certain fragrance compounds. Every Rabbit Hole product is made without mammalian-derived ingredients, so you can use them with confidence. You can learn more about alpha-gal syndrome at the Mayo Clinic website.
Are your products vegan?
Most of our products are plant-based, but we do use beeswax in some items. Because beeswax comes from bees and not mammals, it is still alpha-gal safe. If you need a fully vegan option, check the ingredient list on each product page or contact us and we will help you find the right fit.
Do you use essential oils or fragrance oils?
Both, depending on the product. Our Essential Oil Soap line uses only pure essential oils. Our Fragrance Soap line uses premium fragrance blends. Every product page lists exactly what we use so you always know what you are getting.
Are your products FDA approved?
Personal care products like soap, lotion, and body spray are classified as cosmetics by the FDA. Cosmetics do not require FDA approval before sale. However, we follow all FDA labeling guidelines and never make therapeutic or medical claims about our products. We are transparent about every ingredient we use.
What is cold process soap?
Cold process is a traditional soapmaking method where oils and lye react at low temperatures over several weeks. This slow curing process creates a harder, longer-lasting bar with a rich lather. We never use synthetic detergents or shortcuts. Every bar is handcrafted and cured at our shop in Camdenton, Missouri.
How long does your soap last?
With a soap saver or well-drained dish, most of our bars last 4 to 6 weeks with daily use. Cold process soap is denser than commercial bars, so a little goes a long way. We also sell Soap Savers and Stiletto Soap Stands to help your bar dry between uses.
What is the magnesium concentration in your products?
Our MagniRelief Cream uses a 50% magnesium chloride concentration. Our Magnesium Oil Spray uses a 30% magnesium chloride concentration. Both are blended with plant-based ingredients and contain no mammalian-derived ingredients.
Do you offer free shipping?
Yes. Orders of $100 or more ship free within the United States. All other orders ship via USPS with rates calculated at checkout based on package weight and your location. Most domestic orders arrive within 5 to 7 business days.
What is your return policy?
We accept returns within 14 days of delivery. The item must be in its original packaging. If your product arrived damaged or defective, we cover return shipping. Where can I buy your products in person?
We sell at farmers markets and craft events across the Lake of the Ozarks region in Missouri, primarily from April through October. You can also find us at Insolacious Bookstore on Highway 5 near Camdenton. Follow us on Facebook for our upcoming market schedule.
Do you sell wholesale?
